Don’t know what other reviewer was talking about, there is NO smell at all in my rug. I love this rug and it’s soft and feels good on feet. Looks luxurious and high quality. Have had this for 3 months in my kitchen and I’m so happy I purchased it.

I ORDERED 3 OF THESE RUGS THAT HAD A HORRIBLE SMELL FROM DAY ONE. I ATE THE COST AND THREW THEM OUT DUE TO THE SMELL. DO NOT PURCHASE

|Elegant-looking rug for a down-to-earth feel in decor,
I wanted my apartment to have a more-natural and simple look and that’s when I came across this bamboo rug. There are many varieties of colors and sizes but I felt this one was one of the more neutral-looking ones. The price was very reasonable and the shipping was timely. The rug is indeed very nice in appearance and function, with only a couple downsides: it is imported from China and the felt backing on the bottom had a pungent chemical smell. Ultimately I had to leave it out on the balcony to air on both sides for over four dates and for the heat to evaporate some of the chemicals, presumably VOC’s. This helped tremendously and there’s only a tiny bit of smell left, which is not ideal, but acceptable even my sensitive nose to these things.
I definitely intend on keeping and using the rug in the living room for the time being and had it not been for the chemical smell, it would have received 5-stars. The company also carries grass rugs which are made in the USA and probably won’t have such odor issues. If I had known this, I probably would have gotten one of the grass rugs instead. But overall, I’m satisfied with the purchase.

Before buying, I read the reviews so I knew that there might be a smell when I first got it. There definitely was a smell – probably from the tacky part underneath. Since I was expecting it, I immediately hung it over the deck railing outside for 24 hours. That’s all it needed! I brought it in the house and never smelled it again. I love the way this looks in my entry way! It is earthy and casual but very classy. The bamboo is very soft on bare feet. It also stays in place on the wood floor.
